Fall is here! Yay cold weather! I will no longer feel like I’m melting as soon as I wake up in the morning. Anyway, this season has a few things that I’m excited about. I will be giving you my first impressions on anime that is either brand new, or that I’ve watched the previous seasons for. Keep in mind that my only anime source is Crunchyroll, so I won’t have access to anything besides what they are streaming!
I didn’t get to watch as much as I wanted, but I wanted to get this blog out before the end of the month!!! Sorry if I missed some good ones (I know I have).
Iron Blooded Orphans Season 2
I’m so excited about this season! I loved season one and so far, season 2 is starting off well. All of our beloved characters are back and looking a little bit older and mature. We haven’t gotten too much info about what’s going to happen, but I can’t wait to find out!
Persona5 the Animation – The Day Breakers
Day Breakers is an one episode prelude to the Persona 5 video game coming out in February for North America. We get to see a little bit of the back story as well as some new personas. The ending was super cool, showing the generic no – name character that each persona game has and giving us a taste of what to expect in the game!
The Ancient Magus’ Bride
This one is a little different because it only consists of 3 episodes that are being released every 6 months. It’s an OVA prequel to the manga which I’ve never read, but I’m intrigued enough to do so now. The show has a darker Studio Ghibli vibe to it that I really enjoy and the music is beautiful.
I… I don’t know what it is I watched with this show. My first thought is an adult parody of a children’s show that is written horribly. None of it is funny, you don’t know what’s happening half the time, and any kind of story is lost among fart jokes. Don’t watch it…. just don’t.
Another Idol anime, but this time from the perspective of an upcoming idol instead of some ditzy wannabe manager. This alone is enough to keep my interest. Add that to how pretty everything looks, and I may actually stick with this show!
Nyanbo is a short form anime about aliens that resemble cats who have crashed on Earth. The show follows them on their journey to find the pieces of their UFO so they can get back home. I think this is meant to be for kids, similar to last season’s Bananya. Either way it’s cute.
In a world where kaiju are completely normal, we find this short form anime about 3 girls who are told they have kaiju souls within them. The animation itself is very chibi and cute, giant eyes and all.
Well first off, it’s all very colorful. I feel like this show is going to get super dark on me at some unexpected point because of how bright and loud it is. The characters and plot are interesting, so I think I’ll stick around for awhile.
Izetta: The Last Witch
I think this anime is absolutely beautiful. It brings back memories of Studio Ghibli’s Castle in the Sky, but with a more adult story line. The mix of real world war and fantasy is amazing. I can’t wait to watch more!
I feel like the show has a good plot going, but the whole animal ear and lack of pants thing is really throwing me off. I’ll stick with it because it has piqued my interest a bit, but I don’t know if I’ll stay through the whole thing.
Magical Girl Raising Project
So I didn’t even want to watch this show at all because I thought it would be another lame magical girl spin – off, but the opening scene hooked me. The story itself is actually pretty unique.
Aooni The Blue Monster
I’m beyond confused about what the heck happened in this first episode. It’s short form, so there’s that. It started off like an episode of Scooby Doo and then people started dying but they were actually still alive. And then it just ended….
Definitely an interesting show. I feel like there is some underlying plot point that is going to be important later because a lot of the character development doesn’t make sense at the moment. It is very cute so I think I’ll stick with it.
Tiger Mask W
A very 90’s show about wrestling. Honestly, I was incredibly bored throughout the first episode and have no desire to watch any more. However, if you’re into wrestling then I’m sure you’d enjoy it.
That’s it for now! I WILL come back with a round up to talk about what I dropped and what I kept up on as well as reviews in between. Thanks!
