So the second season of Kagewani has recently wrapped up and I loved it! I was a huge fan of the first season and was super excited when I saw that season 2 was scheduled to release during the Spring season.

What I Liked About It

I was super impressed by the direction they took the story. Season 1 focused on the monster scare factor every episode. They wanted you as the watcher to understand how dangerous the Kagewani is to people. Only within the last couple episodes did they really start up a story with Dr. Banba getting attacked by the monster.

Season 2 starts up right around where the first left off, but instead of doing a different monster horror every episode, they went along with a continuing story following Banba as he tried to figure out what was going on with the Kagewani now trapped inside of him.

They introduced a few new character that added depth to the story they are telling, and for the most part, every character had an important role to play.

The animation stayed the same, giving the show the same dark water color scheme that works really well in the horror genre.

What I Disliked

The only thing that really bugged me were certain characters that got introduced. They fit into the story, but one in particulars side story i felt was unnecassary and didn’t really fit with the rest of the narrative.

Final Thoughts

I really really enjoyed this season and I strongly recommend both seasons of Kagewani if you like horror at all. It isn’t overly scary but the monsters are gross and the story is great.

As always, thank you for reading, and if you have anything to add to the discussion please feel free to leave a comment!
