Hello! Uncharted 4 comes out in a few weeks, so I thought I would play through the series in preparation. Starting, of course, with Drake’s Fortune.

Nathan Drake is a treasure hunter, a descendant of Sir Francis Drake himself! While searching for Sir Drake’s long lost treasure, Nathan runs into pirates who are looking for the very same thing, and are willing to kill in order to get it. When he discovers that the lost treasure is El Dorado he realizes that his life may truly be danger.

What I Liked About It

Uncharted has a fantastic story. You get the thrill of being a treasure hunter and uncovering the secret behind Sir Francis Drake’s treasure adds supernatural mystery to the game. Nate is silly and light hearted, making him an enjoyable character to play. His jokes aren’t too cheesy.

A couple other people are introduced with Nate. Sully is an old fiend of his with a gambling problem, and Elena is a fresh faced reporter hoping to get a good story. The three personalities mesh well together for the most part. Nate and Elena work really well together and she’s very helpful during some of the gun fight sequences.

I’m a sucker for collectibles, and Drake’s Fortune had plenty of them. Throughout the game there are 60 pieces of treasure you can find and collect. Collecting these also gives you trophies when you hit certain number markers. Naughty Dog even gives a shout out to its previous series Jak and Daxter by throwing in a Precursor Orb as a hidden treasure, bring your total to 61 collectibles.

What I Disliked

The amount of enemies are ridiculous. Literally waves after waves are thrown at you in almost every area. The game is almost unplayable in anything other than easy mode if you want to enjoy yourself. Attempting to play on normal mode caused intense rage on my end due to how many times I was mowed down. That’s really my only complaint.

That’s all I’ve got for this discussion! I look forward to playing Uncharted 4 in a few weeks! Thanks for reading, and if you have something you’s like to add to the conversation please feel free to comment below!!
